PONTO'S ADVENTURE

Ponto was a creature who stayed on the planet of Mars. He was quite a queer creature to look at it. One could not identify him as a mammal or a reptile. Ponto had four horns, eight legs and two hands. He had just a single eye in the center of his forehead and one large mouth below his eye. He had a nose, which was barely visible, and a long and strong tail to lash of his enemies. All the other creatures on Mars also looked like Ponto and Ponto stayed there happily with his family and friends.

Every year on Mars, racing competitions were held and Ponto was chosen for the leg race in which all the legs were tied up with a string and using your hands, one had to nudge forward and complete the race till the finish line. Although it was an extremely tough race, Ponto had been practicing really hard and was very good at it.

The day before the race, Ponto was very hard on himself . He practiced all day long and tired himself out. By the end of the day, his hands and legs were all paining.

Finally the day of the great race arrived and alas, the Martians realized that they had no judge for the race. They all thought that the race would be cancelled. An idea suddenly dawned upon Ponto. He decided to go down to Earth and get a judge from there. He though that the prospect of a human being coming to Mars for the entire day would be very exciting. So Ponto sat in his space ship and flew down to earth. His spaceship landed in a huge garden full of trees and flowers. On either side of the garden were row houses lined up. Each little house had its own garden as well. Ponto walked down the street in no particular direction till he stumbled upon a little girl who was crying. She looked up in astonishment when Ponto came near her, but Ponto promised not to harm her. He told her the purpose of his visit and the little girl agrees to come with him in his spaceship till Mars.

On the way back, he spoke to her and became good friends with one another. Her name was Pamela. Everyone back on Mars was very happy to know that they had finally found a judge for the race.

At the end of the day, there was a grand prize distribution ceremony. Ponto won the leg race as well as two other races in which he had participated. After that, Ponto took Pamela back in his spaceship to earth. All had gone well that day and Ponto promised to return next year to take her back to Mars as the Judge for next year's events.
