ADVENTURES WITH A DRAGON

Timothy was down with the chicken pox since over a week. He was extremely glum because he had no one to play with. The doctor had warned Timothy and his mother that chicken pox was contagious and that Timothy should not be allowed to have any contact with members other than family members. Timothy would sit on his bed near the window every day and watch the children play in the street. He would feel very bad for himself because he was missing out on all the fun. Timothy's mother tried to cheer him up by reading stories for him and getting him new toys to play with, but Timothy wanted to play with a friend and with children his age.

One night as the clock struck half past eleven, Timothy could not get sleep. He lay awake in bed tossing and turning from side to side. He finally decided to look out of his window. Outside his window he saw a very queer and ancient creature. It seemed like a dragon. Timothy had never seen a dragon before. He had just read about them and knew what they looked like, but he had never seen any of them at the zoo. Timothy opened the window, just as the dragon let out a few rings of fire. Seeing this Timothy got scared and immediately started shutting his window. But the dragon stopped him and said, " I am Zulu and I promise I that I will not harm you. Like you, even I have the chicken pox and my friends will not play with me. Will you let me come in and play with you?" Timothy was a little skeptical, but he decided to open the window and let Zulu come in.

Zulu and Timothy played all night till about four in the morning, then both of them went to sleep in Timothy's bed. They both swore to each other that they would not tell any one about their little secret.

When Timothy woke up the next morning, Zulu was gone. But as he had faithfully promised, he returned the next day at night to play with Timothy and till Timothy and Zulu both recovered, they continued playing with one another.
