WEEK 1

This is normally counted from the first day of your last period. Having a growing baby developing inside you is an incredible experience. You can calculate 280 days or 40 weeks from the beginning of last menstrual period. You can calculate your due date which is nine months and seven day from this day. This baby is about 2 weeks away from conception.

WEEK 2
It is possible that you have ovulated approximately on the last day of this week or the beginning of the next. Ovulation occurs when the follicle ruptures and releases an egg or ovum. This egg travels to the fallopian tube and survives 24 hours. If the egg is not fertilised within this time, it passes out the next time you menstruate.

WEEK 3
A great deal is happening, even though your pregnancy is in its very beginning stages. Fertilisation is the joining together of a sperm and an egg. Around the fourth day of fertilisation the egg has multiplied into over a hundred cells and is still growing fast. The egg now has fluid filled centre out looks like a solid round mass as it enters the uterus. The egg now called blastocyst is made of two layers which eventually becomes placenta and the embryo.

WEEK 4
Fetal development in still very early stages, but many changes are taking place! The amniotic cavity is starting to form. The area that will be the placenta is forming, and vascular networks are being established. The outer layer of the embryo also forms the umbilical cord as well as the membranes that protects the baby.
